LG Electronics USA has unveiled a cutting-edge 136-inch 4K Ultra HD micro LED display aimed at upscale home cinema enthusiasts and professional environments requiring large-format visual solutions. The new display leverages Active Matrix micro LED technology, which, according to LG, offers precise control over individual pixels, setting it apart from traditional passive systems.

Exceptional Visual Performance

Designed as part of LG’s premium product lineup, the micro LED display boasts a million-to-one contrast ratio, ensuring exceptional image quality. LG highlights its ability to deliver vibrant brightness, deep blacks, and consistent color accuracy across the entire screen surface. The inclusion of proprietary surface treatment and tightly aligned modules mitigates common issues like panel gaps, flicker, and ghosting, even in brightly lit environments.

The active matrix design allows each self-emissive micro LED pixel to be individually driven, resulting in enhanced detail, uniformity, and reduced image artifacts. This advanced feature is intended to provide a superior viewing experience for various types of content, including high-speed visuals commonly found in sports and gaming.

Powered by Advanced AI and Smart Technology

The display is powered by LG’s sixth-generation α9 AI processor, which the company claims is capable of analyzing content to enhance clarity, reduce noise, and improve motion. A variable refresh rate of up to 144Hz further supports smooth performance for dynamic content.

To complement its visual capabilities, the micro LED display integrates LG’s webOS smart TV platform. This feature provides users access to popular streaming services, LG Channels, and even gallery-style visual content. Additionally, it supports AirPlay 2 and Miracast, enabling seamless wireless screen sharing. Built-in 4.2-channel speakers with eARC support round out the audio experience, allowing for the use of external sound systems.

Broad Applications Beyond Home Cinema

While the display is designed with luxury home cinema in mind, LG envisions broader use cases for the system. The company notes its potential in business-to-business (B2B) applications, including boardrooms, design studios, and medical visualization, where image precision and reliability are paramount.

Michael Kosla, B2B senior vice president of LG Electronics USA, emphasized the display’s versatility, stating: "With its size, color performance and image precision, the display is designed to deliver a cinematic experience in both residential and professional environments."

With this innovative offering, LG continues to push the boundaries of display technology, catering to both high-end residential and professional markets with a focus on uncompromising image quality and advanced functionality.
