Icontrol Networks, a software and product company in the security and connected home business, recently conducted an extensive consumer survey about smart homes, and, here are some of the results . . .
- Overall, 54% percent of consumers are excited about the prospect of incorporating smart home features in their houses.
- 90% say that security is one of the top reasons to purchase a smart home system.
- 70% are interested in the potential savings from energy efficiency and monitoring.
- Nearly 60% want the smart devices to operate on their own. Consumers don’t want to have to prompt the devices into action.

Our Cape Cod house has a slab foundation and the entire first floor – living room, kitchen, dining room, two bedrooms, and a bathroom – got 5 feet of water.
